Ilk olarak Morrison Hotel albümünden çıkmış bir single olarak yayınlanan şarkı Amerikan listelerinde çok kısa sürede ilk 50 içerisine girmeyi başarmıştır. Ancak şarkının ana başarısı konser perfonmansları ile orantılıdır. Roadhouse Blues aynı zamanda An American Prayer , In Concert ve Greatest Hits albümleinde de yer almıştır. Bu versiyonlarda Jim Morrison bir kadın seyirci ile burç simgeleri üzerine 2 dakikalık bir konuşma yapar.
